The Nathan of Dorchester turned 13 in 2007 and the Skipjack Committee made the decision to replace the original sails before it became necessary, to keep the boat running smoothly and looking her best. North Sails of Annapolis had made the original set of sails in 1994 and they were asked to come back to the boat to measure for a new jib and main sail. The sails were cut and completed over the winter off-season and were installed by the skipjack crew in April 2008. A highlight of the process was that a few of the crew members were able to see the sails-in-progress in February in the North Sails facility in Stevensville, MD.
