Public Sail Schedule

The Nathan's public sailing season runs from May through October. Regularly scheduled public sails depart from Long Wharf, at the end of High Street, in Cambridge, Maryland. (Note: There have been several changes in August and October to our published rack card schedule. See below.)

Saturday Public Sails are two hours long and generally include an oyster dredging demonstration, conditions permitting. One Sunday each month, we offer two one-hour sails at a reduced price. While the Sunday sails do not include dredging, they still offer an unforgettable opportunity to experience sailing on a traditional Chesapeake Bay skipjack.

All ages are welcome. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. We provide life jackets that must be worn by children 12 and under. No pets are allowed except service dogs. We can accommodate passengers in wheelchairs, but it is advisable to let us know ahead of time, as we can only take a limited number of wheelchairs each trip. Please note that the onboard “head” (marine toilet) is not handicapped-accessible. More information may be found on our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Reservations are strongly recommended, but are not required. Space is limited to 20 passengers per trip.

• Advance reservations are accepted ONLY ONLINE, until midnight of the day before the sail. Pay online with credit card or Paypal. Please be sure you proceed through receipt of confirmation.
• Day-of-sail reservations for any remaining spaces may be made by calling 410-228-7141. Pay at the dock by cash or check only.
• We frequently can accommodate those who come to the boat without reservations on the day of sail, but groups of more than two or three people should reserve in advance.

Our 2013 Public Sail schedule is posted below. Dates open for reservations are shown in red and link to a reservation form. Click on either the Saturday date or Sunday time you would like to sail. Please be sure to complete your reservation through to a confirmation page.

Additional dates will open as the season progresses. If you would like to reserve for any date not yet open, please email us and we will let you know when that date opens for reservations.

All sailings are subject to weather and other conditions.

Cancellation Policy
Reservations may be canceled for refund up to three days in advance of sailing date. A credit for the amount of your payment, less a $5 processing fee, will be issued to your credit card.
No refunds will be issued for reservations canceled less than three days prior to sailing date. A full refund will we made if the sail is canceled by the Dorchester Skipjack Committee due to weather or other circumstances.
