The Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester, was commissioned on July 4, 1994 and is celebrating its 25th year! Throughout its lifetime, this historic vessel has offered a comprehensive tourist experience in the traditions and culture of the Chesapeake Bay.
Completely crewed and maintained by volunteers, it is a labor of love as they preserve the Nathan, while offering a maritime heritage experience to visitors and the community. The Nathan relies on donations, charters, and public sails to maintain its recreational and educational mission, and we invite you to help us keep it going.
In the past 25 years, the Nathan of Dorchester has sailed more than 25,000 miles and visited ports all over the Chesapeake bay. Nathan has carried over 16,000 passengers and dredges for oysters on most sails.
For our Silver Anniversary, our goal is to encourage 25 generous donors to offer $1,000.00. Help us preserve the heritage and service of this vibrant institution to our Chesapeake Bay history. All proceeds will be used exclusively for the maintenance of the Nathan of Dorchester.
